Taxi figures are Seoul city's published estimates for hotels in Insadong, Myeongdong and Samseong (COEX), before tolls. Bus times are Seoul city's estimate; traffic changes them a lot.
Which one should you pick?
- Solo or a couple with one bag each, staying near Seoul Station, Hongdae or Gongdeok: take AREX. The all-stop train saves money; the Express saves about 15 minutes to Seoul Station.
- Your hotel is on a limousine bus route: take the bus. Your suitcases ride underneath and you're dropped at or near the door.
- Two people, daytime, want door to door: a regular taxi from the official stand is simple and fairly priced.
- Families, 5 or more people, golf bags or a late landing: a jumbo taxi or a pre-booked van. A van has a fixed price, room for luggage and a driver already waiting with your name. See our guide for families and groups.
A private van is not the cheapest way for one or two travelers: the train and a regular taxi cost less. It pays off when you have kids, lots of luggage, a big group or a late flight, or simply want the price settled before you fly.
AREX airport train
The Airport Railroad (AREX) runs two kinds of train from both terminals. From arrivals, follow the train signs to the Transportation Center, where the AREX station is.
- Express train: nonstop to Seoul Station in 43 minutes from Terminal 1 (51 from Terminal 2). ₩13,000 for adults and ₩9,500 for children, with reserved seats. Buy at the Express counter on B1 of the Transportation Center or online; AREX partner sites sometimes sell it cheaper online. First train 5:24am, last 10:48pm from Terminal 1, roughly every 30–40 minutes.
- All-stop train: a commuter line that also stops at Gimpo Airport, Digital Media City, Hongik Univ. (Hongdae) and Gongdeok. 59 minutes from Terminal 1 to Seoul Station (66 from Terminal 2), ₩4,750 from T1 or ₩5,350 from T2 with a transit card such as T-money. A single-use card costs ₩100 more plus a ₩500 deposit you get back at the end. Trains run about every 10 minutes from 5:14am.
- Luggage: AREX's carriage rules allow up to two large items per person. Golf bags in a travel case and strollers are allowed. You carry everything through ticket gates, transfers and station exits yourself.
Good for: light packers staying near an AREX station or a simple subway transfer. Heading to Gangnam? There's no direct train; see Incheon Airport to Gangnam.
Airport limousine bus
Limousine buses leave from right outside arrivals and stop at or near many large hotels. Suitcases ride in the hold, which makes the bus easier than the train with luggage.
- Where to board: Terminal 1, outside exits 3–7 on 1F (Seoul-bound buses). Terminal 2, the B1 Transportation Center, Seoul-bound buses at stops 11–35.
- Tickets: buy at the ticket booth or machine before boarding. At Terminal 2 you need a paper ticket for every route, and drivers don't take credit cards on board.
- Fares: ₩17,000–₩18,000 per adult; children pay less.
- Popular routes: 6001, 6015 and 6701 for Myeongdong and City Hall; 6002 for Hongdae, Sinchon and Gwanghwamun; 6703, 6009, 6020 and 6006 for Gangnam, COEX and Jamsil.
- Luggage: on Airport Limousine's routes (6001, 6002, 6015) each ticket includes two suitcases up to 28 inches; extra bags are ₩8,000 each.
Good for: travelers whose hotel is a listed stop. Check the stop list on the operator's site first: some routes run only every 45–60 minutes.
Taxi
Official taxi stands are outside arrivals on 1F at both terminals, with separate lanes for regular, deluxe/jumbo and International Taxis. Use the stands: the airport warns that unlicensed call vans posing as taxis approach passengers and overcharge.
- Regular taxi: metered from a ₩4,800 base fare. Seoul city estimates about ₩44,000–₩48,500 to Insadong, ₩47,000–₩52,000 to Myeongdong and ₩53,000–₩58,500 to Samseong (COEX). Expressway tolls are extra and paid by you. Heavy traffic pushes the meter higher.
- Night surcharge: Seoul taxis add 20% from 10pm to 11pm, 40% from 11pm to 2am and 20% from 2am to 4am.
- Deluxe and jumbo taxis: base fare ₩7,000, roomier cars, and jumbo vans seat up to 8. Seoul city puts them at 40–50% more than a regular taxi.
- International Taxi: drivers who speak English, Japanese or Chinese, and fixed zone fares from the airport to Seoul: ₩70,000–₩95,000 for a standard car, ₩100,000–₩140,000 for larger vehicles.
- Apps: Uber says you can request a taxi in its app as soon as you land.

Where to meet your driver at Incheon Airport
- 1
Book at least a day ahead
Online booking closes 24 hours before pickup. Add your flight number so your driver can track your landing time.
- 2
Get your driver's details
The day before, your booking page and email show your driver's name, phone number and car number.
- 3
Land and clear arrivals
Go through immigration, baggage claim and customs. Korean Air, Asiana, Delta and a few partners use Terminal 2; most other airlines use Terminal 1 (airlines by terminal).
- 4
Look for your name sign
Walk out into the public arrivals hall on 1F. Your driver is waiting there with your name on a sign. If your flight is late, they keep waiting at no extra cost.
- 5
Can't see them?
Message the driver team from your booking page (we translate for the driver) or call the number you were sent. Don't go with anyone who walks up offering a ride: Incheon Airport itself warns about unlicensed call vans posing as taxis.
- 6
Straight to your door
Your driver helps load the bags and drives you directly to your hotel or address, with no shared stops. Tolls are already in your price.
